What you need to make air fryer steak fries

Cooking fries that are already made is so easy! They are ready to cook straight from the bag, and you don’t need to thaw them. You really don’t need more than your air fryer and frozen fries, and of course, you favorite fry sauce. I use a Cosori 5.8 quart air fryer and I used Ore-Ida Frozen Golden Steak Fries to make this Air Fryer recipe.

How to make frozen steak fries in the air fryer

I used a 28 ounce bag of frozen fries, and cooked them in two batches. I didn’t use cooking spray,  because I have a nonstick basket and the fries didn’t stick at all. Place the fries in the basket, without stacking or overlapping. Cook the fries at 400 degrees Fahrenheit for 12 minutes. Shake the basket halfway through cooking. Depending on the air fryer, the actual cooking time may vary.  Click Here to Get the Top Ten Air Fryer Questions Answered

Making Homemade steak fries from scratch

If you have time, you can also make air fryer steak fries from scratch. The directions and cooking times are very similar to our traditional air fryer Homemade Potato Wedges, or our Seasoned French Fries. You will begin with  by peeling, then rinsing four Russet potatoes. Then, cut them into ½ inch strips the length of the potatoes.  Soak the French fries in cold water for 25-30 minutes.  This will remove the starch content and make them crispy.   After they have soaked, drain water and pat dry with paper towels, then return them to the bowl. Next, coat potatoes with a tablespoon virgin olive oil. Seasonings are optional, but if you want them seasoned, follow our potato wedges recipe. We just season with salt or garlic powder.  Spread the fries into the air fryer basket, without overlapping. Work in batches if necessary. Once it is filled, return the basket to the air fryer and cook fries at 400 degrees Fahrenheit for 20-25 minutes. During the cooking process, shake the basket at the 10 minute mark. When cooking steak fries, depending on the thickness of your cut, cook time may vary, so you may need to add 2-3 extra minutes for cooking time.
